Hand-tufted circular wool rug, creation by Studio Gazelles in collaboration with Maison Pinton, made artisanally in France. The design is inspired by the sacred lotus (Nelambo) and combines organic shapes and geometry to bring softness and harmony to interiors.
Presentation & inspiration :The rug's pattern borrows forms from 1930s architecture and the decorative arts, blending naturalism and pointillism. The motif, drawn in a repetitive and mechanical manner, evokes the lotus flower with long airy petals and imparts a sense of softness and balance.
Colours & appearance :The rug is composed of wide bands in pastel tones. Fifteen colours ranging from pink to pale green are obtained using 6 yarn shades in gradient weaving, producing a uniform look from a distance and a pointillist effect up close.
Manufacture & technique :This is a hand-tufted rug. On a stretched canvas, yarns are inserted manually strand by strand with a tufting gun, following the colours, the pattern and pile heights. Maison Pinton, partner of this creation, uses gun-tufting for certain pieces and enables the production of high-quality rugs more quickly than hand-knotting. Carving can be applied afterwards to sculpt the wool and create reliefs on the rug.
Collaboration & provenance :This creation resulted from the encounter between Studio Gazelles and Maison Pinton. Production is artisanal and rugs are manufactured at Maison Pinton's workshop in France.
