Armchair, daybed, chaise lounge or sofa - a wide range of variations characterize program S 5000. James Irvine has reinterpreted a type of sofa that was already a part of the Thonet program in the 1930s: the archetype of a minimalist sofa with a bent tubular steel base. A variable program resulted through subtle interventions, based on a simple, intelligent design idea: the "modular principle." Up to four identical upholstery elements are placed on the standard base element as armrests or backrests at the owner's discretion. This idea opens up a broad range of uses and large selection of different versions.
