Description

José Saramago is one of the most distinguished writers of the Portuguese language and he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1998. The 90th anniversary of the birth of José Saramago, who died on 18 June 2010, is celebrated on 16 November.

The interior of the Casa dos Bicos was completely renovated to house the headquarters of the José Saramago Foundation. Valchromat was one of the materials chosen for this renovation, which was undertaken by the Santa-Rita Arquitectos firm.

The Foundation houses various spaces such as a library, museum and a space for events and exhibitions that perpetuate the memory of the only Portuguese language writer to have ever been awarded a Nobel Prize.

Valchromat was used for various applications such as coatings, doors, shelves, furniture and display cases, among others.

José Saramago Foundation intends for this iconic building to be a public space that hosts exhibitions, concerts, conferences, courses and seminars, always at the service of culture. It is with great pride that the Valchromat brand is associated in this manner with the history of this building and this noble foundation.
