This classic sign post is part of a directional system that makes the city's historical centre and notable sights more accessible to tourists and residents. It consists of an octagonal pole seemingly growing from a square base. The cylindrical head of the post provides space for several signs. Smaller icon signs at medium height indicate the way to the Underground and to urban railway stations. The basic "ship shape" - shaped like the deck of a boat - and distinctive surface structure lend the street furniture design line Challenge its solid, yet unobtrusive appeal.
