Modular bicycle pumptracks make it possible for any community to build a low-maintenance, low-cost, hard surface pumptrack that people of every age, skill level, and riding discipline can enjoy. While we often install a modular pumptrack as a permanent park feature, it’s possible to relocate or reconfigure the track. What’s a pumptrack? Glad you asked. It’s a track that allows the skater or biker to move without pedaling or putting his or her feet down on the surface. All you have to do is pump your knees up and down, following the contours of the pumptrack, to move forward. Make no mistake. It still takes some physical effort to move along a pumptrack. But it’s safer because there’s less pedaling or pounding feet against the surface.
