The PE-RT has an oxygen anti-diffusing barrier that is a thin EVOH film applied on the outer tube layer during the manufacture process with the aim of obtaining oxygen tightness and the consequent durability increase of the installation. The barrier is composed of a thin film of ethylene copolymer resins and wine alcohol (EVOH). This resin has incredible properties as a barrier against gases, odours and tastes and it is also highly chemically resistant to solvents, product deriving from petroleum and vegetal oils. In the applications where hot water is driven inside closed circuits, with the temperature increase, the intermolecular space of the tubes is usually bigger than the oxygen molecule, the air oxygen molecules penetrate through the tube wall causing a permanent water oxydation and the consequent continuing oxydation of the metallic parts of the installationl (Valves, metallic accessories, etc) reducing its durability by producing material loss and oxyde deposits that can obstruct the ducts. The oxygen barrier (EVOH) creates the tightness to the oxygen and the consequent increase of the installation durability.
- Thermal conductivity (W/m degrees C): 0,40
- Working temperature ( Degrees C): -10 to 70
Note: When considering the real piping dimensions, the thickness of the wall is augmented by 0.2 mm, due to the EVOH film height.
