About us
Since its founding in 1887 by glass engineer Laurenz Lamberts, the employees of LAMBERTS glass factory have been dedicated to the production of cast glass, i.e., glass formed by rolling processes. The company, which has been family-owned ever since, is the only independent medium-sized cast glass company in Europe. It is the largest cast glass factory in Europe and boasts one of the most modern plant and machinery parks worldwide. Furthermore, LAMBERTS is now the only glass factory in Germany and Europe that manufactures channel glass through all production steps, both as a semi-finished and finished glass product, within Europe.

Ecology – low CO2 emissions
As the first and only cast glass manufacturer worldwide, LAMBERTS has been producing all its glasses for many years according to the unique EcoGlass concept (» Ecology). LAMBERTS is one of the leading architectural glass manufacturers that produce glasses of the highest quality with particularly low CO2 emissions. This means that we not only offer you glass products that have successfully contributed ecologically and technically to projects in architecture for many years, but these are also manufactured in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
Already in 2008, LAMBERTS LINIT channel glass was selected by a specialist jury as the only glass product among the “TOP 10 GREEN BUILDING PRODUCTS” in a major international competition by the renowned trade magazine “Sustainable Industries”.
Quality - “100% MADE IN GERMANY”
All LAMBERTS glasses are produced exclusively at our plant in Wunsiedel, Upper Franconia (Germany). We rely on modern production facilities and machines, as well as the experience and know-how of our long-standing employees. Our manufacturing processes are geared towards compliance with defined quality requirements and consideration of relevant environmental aspects. Certification according to DIN ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 50001 is a matter of course. The continuous development of our glasses in partnership with our suppliers and customers has led to our glasses becoming increasingly popular worldwide and being used in the highest quality projects and applications.
Highest quality projects and applications with LAMBERTS glasses
Channel glass, initially used as a cost-effective economic solution in simple industrial and commercial buildings in the first decades after the Second World War, is now, due to its product refinement, quality, clear forms, and technical versatility, also used as U-glass in the most prestigious architectural projects such as museums, theaters, hospitals, shopping centers, sports stadiums, company and office buildings, often with a design-oriented approach worldwide.
LAMBERTS LINIT U-glass is part of the training centers of FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, as well as in the cable car stations at the Olympic Games in London or on the Stubai Glacier. The world's most renowned architectural firms such as Steven Holl, Ian Ritchie, Rem Koolhaas, and many others plan with LAMBERTS glasses. Internationally renowned architectural awards, such as the LEAF awards of the Leading European Architect Forum (most recently in 2016 for the Sainsbury Wellcome Center as best project and best facade) or various AIA Honor Awards, reflect the great worldwide appreciation for our glasses.
The conviction that there are many more possible applications for our cast glass spurred us early on to constantly explore new avenues in production and finishing. For example, since 2000, we have been the world's first channel glass manufacturer to offer U-glass in series production up to 7 m in thermally toughened finishing as safety glass, with and without color enameling or sandblasting. The range of glass surfaces is also constantly being expanded to meet the increasing demands of architects for appealing aesthetic solutions and stylish design. In addition, a point-fixed channel glass facade, fastened by drilling holes, was successfully realized for the first time worldwide with LAMBERTS LINIT U-glass.
LAMBERTS Eco-Patterned glasses are also increasingly used in facades as an alternative to neutral float glass or in combination with float glass due to their impressive play of light.
Furthermore, LAMBERTS ECO-Solar is the first antimony-free solar glass for the PV and collector industry.

Our Values
Glass is not just glass!
As early as the beginning of the 1990s, when a growing environmental movement in Germany prompted people to profoundly rethink their approach to nature and existing resources, LAMBERTS began to intensively focus on the ecological improvement of all relevant company processes, particularly in production.
This was even more motivating as we have lived in the Fichtel Mountains with its wonderful nature since 1887, and our company founder Laurenz Lamberts chose Wunsiedel-Holenbrunn for its perfect geographical location, where he could produce glass from regionally sourced natural products.
In a first step, the manufacturing method (type of melting furnace and firing) and the increased use of recycled glass from both internal and national economic cycles were analyzed and critically examined.
Over the years, we consolidated all these measures into our “LAMBERTS EcoGlass” concept, which remains unique in the “Building and Architectural Glass” sector.
What is LAMBERTS EcoGlass?
The EcoGlass concept is based on nine pillars focused on sustainability-oriented product design and manufacturing:
1. Oxygen-fired melting furnace
In 1996, LAMBERTS was the first and only company worldwide specialized in cast glass to produce all types of glass in an oxygen-fired melting furnace. This was a groundbreaking step towards more sustainable production. This innovation was based on our conviction that industrial processes must be systematically reviewed for their environmental impact and continuously improved. Since then, we have continuously refined the technical design of the melting furnace and steadily increased its efficiency. Through the gradual optimization of all production processes, we are constantly working to use resources more efficiently and further improve our environmental footprint.
2. Recycled glass content in the glass melt
LAMBERTS recycles 100% of its glass waste during production and, through optimized production processes, uses up to 50% recycled glass from the national economic cycle.
3. Green electricity
Since 2011, expensive green electricity has been deliberately and exclusively used throughout the entire LAMBERTS glass factory, from administrative PCs to the melting furnace in production. Since its inception in 1887, our factory has been located exclusively in Wunsiedel, Bavaria. Wunsiedel is probably one of the leading green cities in Germany; the electricity supplied by the municipal utility is 100% green electricity and is 100% produced in Bavarian run-of-river hydroelectric power plants.
4. Sustainability
LAMBERTS EcoGlass is 100% recyclable, should it ever need to be disposed of in the future, for whatever reason. When it is remelted, no harmful side effects whatsoever occur. Quite the opposite! Remelting our glass would even offer additional ecological benefits.
5. Antimony-free glass!
All LAMBERTS glass, including solar glass for photovoltaics and the collector industry, has been produced for decades without the cheaper raw material antimony, which has long been strongly suspected of being carcinogenic.
6. Low CO2 emissions
The LAMBERTS glass factory is among the world's best architectural glass manufacturers for achieving the lowest possible CO2 emissions (see Downloads: Environmental Product Declaration).
7. CO2 savings in buildings due to greatly improved thermal insulation glass
Lamberts glass products and thermal insulation solutions contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions with significantly improved thermal protection concepts and optimized U-values (also in conjunction with Thermolight products). Within a short time, they offset the CO2 emissions generated during their production through the energy savings they achieve.
8. Bird protection
Up to 100 million birds die each year in Europe, and up to a billion in the USA, because glass in architecture is not recognized as an obstacle in time. LAMBERTS LINIT©EcoGlass was the first channel glass to be tested and certified as bird-friendly by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), the leading authority for bird-friendly architecture in the USA, as early as 2016. The same applies to LAMBERTS patterned glass.
9. World's first architectural glass manufacturer with proof of origin and current EPD for all glass products
Lamberts was the first architectural glass manufacturer (flat glass, patterned glass, wired glass, channel glass, solar glass) worldwide to be able to present a proof of origin and a currently valid EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) from an authorized testing institute in accordance with European standards for all its glass products and all its production plants.
All these and many other individual measures mean that we not only offer you glass products that have successfully made their ecological, and thus application-technical, contribution in architecture for many years, but also that these products are manufactured in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
