MAXALTO

Maxalto, founded in 1975, stands out for its highly specialized artisan production of wooden furniture. The brand searches for the highest quality materials and workmanship as its mark of excellence, which is reflected in its very name: Maxalto derives from the Venetian term massa alto, which means “the highest.”
From a formal point of view, this search looks to the past and revisits classical shapes. Afra and Tobia Scarpa were the first interpreters of this style, with a series of wooden furniture pieces that brought wood to the fore through the use of ancient and rare cabinet- and violin-making work processes. After this first important collaboration with Afra and Tobia Scarpa, in 1993 Maxalto embarked on a new chapter with Antonio Citterio as sole designer. Alongside a wide range of standard furnishings and finishes, the artisanal approach that characterized the brand’s collections led to the establishment of the Maxalto Atelier service, offering its customers the possibility of customizing products both in terms of size and finishes. Five Maxalto collections are available: Apta Collection (1996), Simplice Collection (2000), AC Collection (2002), Acro Collection (2010) and Lux Collection (2012).
