Description

Accoya was selected for the cladding and decking of the new Forest of Genetic Resource Department in Suwon, Korea. To date (December 2016), this project marks the largest wooden scale structure in the whole of Korea. Because of this iconic status, the construction had to ensure that the most advanced materials such as Accoya were chosen. Due to the project being 4 storeys high Accoya was selected for its extreme durability and stability. Designed by IDS architects, Accoya was also chosen because of its natural and bespoke aesthetic. Due to Accoya’s light appearance, the cladding could be painted to satisfy the designers’ requirements. For this project a Sikkens coating was used.
