CONTROL OF RIVER BANKS
Cylindrical gabions or sack gabions are made with double-twisted hexagonal wire mesh of the 8x10 type. Once on site, they are filled with stones to create flexible and permeable structures for river bank coating or in emergency works: embankment slubs and abutments, embankment siphoning and outflow control.
Depending on the requirement, there are different types of sack gabions, distinguished by length, width, capacity and weight.
River bank protection works which employ cylindrical gabions have several advantages:
the structure is closely linked and therefore can withstand sensitive displacements and deformations without loss of hydraulic functionality and without dislocating itself.
The movement of water is not hindered and the structure drains well, thanks to the porosity of stone.
They can be easily and effectively re-greened, enhancing their geotechnical functionality by means of radical drainage and reinforcement
