High-quality stool with X-shaped legs after a Louis XVI gilded wood ployant by the menuisier en sièges Jean-Baptiste SENE (1748-1803) which we have here reinterpreted in an understated but elegantly designed Empire style and converted into a two-seated bench. The original piece was conceived in order to decorate Marie-Antoinette's royal "Games Room" and is exhibited among 24 similar existing ployants in the Throne room at Fontainebleau's Castle.
