The late Baroque style emerged during the Regency and culminated under Louis XV. By the end of the 18th Century, Rococo becomes old-fashioned and is supplanted by Neoclassicism. Here we have a concrete example of such an evolution with its moulded outline and pastoral patterns of balanced carved flowers. The gilded wood brings a subtle luxurious touch reminding of the exuberance of the period, as well as the crimson purple and gold damask fabric.
