Ceramic bowl

decorativehandmade

Product overview
A Balian decorative ceramic bowl, 13 in (33 cm) diameter, hand-painted in the Balian Jerusalem studio. Painted freehand by studio artisans: black outlines are brushed first, followed by individual color fills, then glazing and high-temperature firing (above 1,830 °F / 1,000 °C) to fix the decoration under a lead-free glaze.

Use & finish
The glaze is lead-free and food-safe, so the bowl can serve as a coffee-table centerpiece and as a functional fruit or salad bowl. Colors are fired under the glaze and resist fading. Bowls are dishwasher-safe (avoid abrasive scouring pads). Do not use in microwave or oven.

Pricing & shipping (summary)
Price for the 13 in (33 cm) decorative bowl: $400 (USD). Typical US shipping for a single bowl: $170 (insured door-to-door via courier). Shipping per bowl decreases when ordering multiple bowls packed together in one hand-built crate.

About the craft
Every piece is unique due to hand-painting: brush pressure, color saturation and motif placement vary. Designs (gazelles, songbirds, pomegranates, cypress borders, Tree of Life) derive from the Ottoman–Armenian tile tradition brought to Jerusalem in 1919; the Balian studio has produced hand-painted ceramics in Jerusalem since 1922.
