Antique French limestone farmhouse fireplace : This is an antique limestone chimneypiece featuring discretely sculpted Classic forms rather than finely-carved décor. It will have originally been a fireplace used for cooking and heating, in a farmhouse kitchen or a living room, and has a slight forward cantilever to favour access and radiant heat distribution. It is presumed 19th century or earlier. Dimensions approx : Overall width = 176 cm (69 inches) Overall height = 198 cm (78 inches) Width between side jambs 141 cm (55.5 inches) Front to back overall = 80 cm (31.50 inches) On display at BCA’s Normandy premises at Méry Corbon, between Caen and Lisieux.
