Classic Rose Corton stone antique mantel : Classic Rose Corton stone antique mantel with particularly fine carving. Corton limestone is renowned for its high density that can be polished. This 3-piece antique fireplace is exquisite and unusual having been finely carved in Corton’s rarer pink limestone. Presumed 18th century in a Louis XV style personalized to the original owner’s taste. An experienced eye will detect (with difficulty) that is has previously been expertly repaired. Dimensions approx : Overall width = 165 cm (65 inches) Overall height = 122 cm (48 inches) Height below lintel = 101 cm (40 inches) Front to back overall = 36 cm (14 inches) On display at BCA’s Normandy premises at Méry Corbon, between Caen and Lisieux.
