Integrated LED lights within the base capture the finish of a golden ring and create a thin slither of light, mimicking the eclipse. Eclipse builds upon traditional eternity sculptures and is inspired by David's imminent 20th wedding anniversary with his wife Sophie. It draws on the DH Lawrence poem, Fidelity, read at the couple's wedding, which describes a sapphire of fidelity, represented in the outer rings of the sculpture, made from stainless steel and coated in a dark blue, sapphire hue. Taking inspiration from the phases of the moon and the shadows of an eclipse, the Eclipse's interlocking rings support each other and work in harmony from any angle. The inner ring is lined with 23 ¾-carat gold leaf. Integrated LED lights in the base are positioned to capture the finish of the smaller ring and create a thin slither of light, mimicking the eclipse.
