The Lutetian wall is a shoring wall derived from the Berliner wall. In between the vertical components (steel H beams), and unlike Berlin-type walls, these types of shoring walls receive lightly reinforced shotcrete walls instead of horizontal sheeting. Construction sequence 1. Formation of the reinforced concrete cast-in-place bored pile or drilling of a borehole for the placement of the a steel profile. 2. At the first phase of the earthwork, projection of lightly reinforced shotcrete. Eventual anchoring of the wall. 3. & 4. At the final phase of the earthwork, termination of the application of the shotcrete. Fields of application • Earth retaining wall, without groundwater over the retained height in the excavation area • Not water retaining (the wall is permeable) Environmental impact • Soil removal: depending on the construction process • Vibration and noise pollution, depending on the construction process • A stable, dry and flat work platform is needed • Specific measures during the application and projection of the concrete Technical specifications • Only earth retaining in temporary phase • Applicable only if the groundwater level is lower than the maximum excavation level (temporary or permanent conditions) • Temporary cohesion of the soil is needed in order to carry out the excavation and allow for the placement of the shotcrete or pneumatically projected concrete at high velocity. • Soil removal: depending on the construction process • If required, installation of additional anchors • Depth: see the section of the “large diameter bored piles” • Height: limited only by the level of the groundwater table • Width: equal to the diameter of the chosen pile
