UNIQUE PIECES, AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST OverviewCoffee table designed by Rania Hamed. The project examines the relationship between the grid and glass, exploring how a grid can introduce depth, rhythm and an additional layer of texture into an otherwise smooth, transparent material. The grid functions as a structural and conceptual framework and is the origin of the name Ommi (Ommi means “mother” in Arabic).

Designer note / concept“The initial source of inspiration emerged from my ongoing exploration of the relationship between the grid and glass. I studied a design language that investigates how the grid can introduce depth, rhythm, and an additional layer of texture into an otherwise smooth and transparent material. For me, the grid is the mother of all structures. It is the underlying system from which patterns, calligraphy, ornaments, and architectural compositions emerge. Both rational and poetic at the same time, it is a framework that allows freedom within order. The grid has been a recurring geometry in our studio, a silent structure that often guides our spatial and material explorations. This is where the name Ommi comes from. Ommi means “mother” in Arabic and reflects the idea of the grid as the mother of all design.”
