The Mars series draws its inspiration from the space-age ideas of the 1950s and 1960s, and the science fiction movies of the same era. The shade consists of two closed cup-shaped components made of heat-formed, light-permeable white acrylic. Both components have an indentation in the middle where they connect to each other. In addition to making the lamp look like a flying saucer, the shape provides space for an energy-saving circular compact fluorescent tube. The lamp provides good and even lighting into its surroundings. The series includes pendant and floor lamps, with identical 57 cm shades. The pendant lamp is fixed to the ceiling with an adjustable suspension wire. The floor lamp has removable feet that can be installed without tools.
