Original Heriz carpets include arabesques and animals and they are the only carpets in the world where stories of old times are woven from memory. Knots Rugs have fused elements from this oriental traditional rug design with subtle Mexican Sugar Candy Skulls, bringing a new and original concept to the rug industry. The Mexican Skull tradition dates back to the 18th Century where hand painted flower-like swirls and other fanciful designs were inked around the skull’s eyes, cheek bones and head which you can also find in this rug design. Our Mexican Skulls rug has been finished with an oxidisation technique which affects the wool beneath the overriding layer of silk, creating an extraordinary 3D effect with a unique look and antique appearance.
