Overview
Hafnon is a mohair velvet fabric designed by Raf Simons and produced by Kvadrat in Italy. The fabric features a kinetic checkerboard effect created in the pile and a jacquard shadow structure that produces a dynamic interplay of light and shade.

Application

• Upholstery for seating, panels and decorative interiors; suited to low-traffic commercial and residential applications.

Performance

• Durability: 20,000 Martindale (EN ISO 12947).
• Pilling: Grade 5 (EN ISO 12945).
• Lightfastness: Tested to ISO 105-B02 (scale 1–8).
• Fire tests: Passes multiple international standards (examples: AS/NZS 3837 class 2; ÖNORM B1/Q1; UNI 9175 1IM; IMO FTP Code 2010 Part 8; BS 5852 part 1; BS 7176 Low Hazard; EN 1021-1/2; NF D 60 013; US Cal. Bull. 117-2013; BS 5852 Crib 5). Flame-retardant performance depends on foam and application.
• Airflow: 1011 Pa s/m (EN ISO 9053-1), a parameter influencing acoustic behaviour.

Care

• Cleaning and maintenance: Vacuum regularly (ideally weekly) using a soft brush attachment at reduced power. Wipe polyurethane-backed upholstery with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
• Washing labels / instructions: Do not wash; do not bleach; do not tumble dry; do not iron. Professional dry cleaning recommended.
• Stain removal: Remove solids with a spoon, vacuum loose particles, absorb liquids with a cloth. For non-greasy stains dab with a lint-free cloth or sponge wrung out in warm water, working from edge to centre. For greasy stains use suitable detergents/solvents after testing in an inconspicuous area. Ensure fabric is fully dry before use.
• Professional cleaning: Use extraction or carbonated cleaning for deep cleaning when necessary; prefer pH-neutral CO2 solutions; avoid steam cleaners. If fabric is glued, max cleaning temperature 55–60°C and avoid over-saturation.
• Impregnation: Not recommended for woollen upholstery; avoid impregnating 100% Trevira CS as this may reduce flame-retardant properties.
• Removable covers: Trevira CS removable covers can be machine washed at max 40/60°C; wool removable covers should be dry cleaned. Follow specific care labels.
