Description

Overview
The MEIKO BioMaster® infeed station converts kitchen scraps and leftovers into a pumpable biomass using homogenisation technology. Designed for commercial kitchens and food-service facilities, the system produces a fluid biomass that is transported via sealed plastic piping to a storage tank for odour-free holding and regular removal.

How it works
Organic kitchen waste is comminuted and homogenised with minimal additional process water. The resulting pulpy biomass remains pumpable and is conveyed through a closed piping network to an on-site storage tank. The sealed system prevents odours and contamination and supports hygienic ambient storage for weeks (or, in some configurations, several months) before collection by a tanker and transfer to a biogas plant.

Advantages
  • Improved kitchen hygiene and reduced cleaning effort
  • Safe, sealed hydraulic transport of biomass
  • Streamlined waste handling and workflows
  • Reduced collection frequency and fewer lorry trips
  • Integration possible with grease separators for simultaneous emptying
  • Versatile tank options without mandatory refrigeration
  • Limits loss of cutlery and small items
  • Lower disposal costs through energy recovery

Models and variants
  • MEIKO BioMaster® 4 HIGHLINE: High-end infeed station for all types of kitchen waste. Two programmes (standard and mainly dry food waste) for optimised comminution and storage. Features MEIKOGREEN homogenisation technology, very low process water consumption, hand spray, integrated water meter and an additional cleaning programme.
  • MEIKO BioMaster® 4 Plus: Robust chassis (150 mm ground clearance, plinth-mountable), compatible with standard-compliant water supply and attachable to tables and hygiene stations. Suitable for medium to large commercial kitchens; processes typical batches in approx. 50 seconds.
  • MEIKO BioMaster® FLEX: Compact model (approx. 500 mm width) for retrofit installations and kitchens with limited space while delivering core BioMaster® functionality.
  • BioMaster® Flex DirectFeed: DirectFeed option for integration in the flow of flight-type dishwashers to dispose leftovers before the wash process, preventing conveyor jams and improving ergonomics.

Storage tank
The homogenised biomass is pumped to a sealed storage tank made of polyethylene or concrete, selected according to site constraints and meal throughput. Tanks keep the biomass hygienic and odour-free at ambient temperature for extended periods, enabling collection cycles typically every 4–6 weeks and avoiding frequent bin transport through the building. Tanks can be combined with kitchen grease traps for joint emptying.

Typical process / collection
The system primarily uses the water contained in food waste so only minimal additional process water is required. A tanker collects the energy-rich biomass (typically every 4–6 weeks) and delivers it to a biogas plant for energy and material recovery.

Technical specifications
  • Technology: homogenisation to convert solid food waste into pumpable biomass
  • System type: pumped, closed plastic piping hydraulic system to storage tank
  • Grease separator: can be integrated for combined emptying
  • Process water: very low additional water required (uses water in food waste)
  • Storage: odour-free ambient storage in polyethylene or concrete tanks; storage time from weeks up to several months depending on configuration
  • Collection interval: typically every 4–6 weeks (dependent on volume and contract)
  • BioMaster® 4 Plus processing time: approx. 50 seconds per batch
  • BioMaster® 4 HIGHLINE extras: hand spray, integrated water meter, additional cleaning programme
  • BioMaster® FLEX: approx. 500 mm width for compact installations and retrofits
  • DirectFeed option: integration with flight-type dishwashers to remove leftovers before washing
