kitchen project terra. the earth, with its waters, forests and mountains, is extraordinarily beautiful in its being, in its naked and silent presence. contrary to everyday artifacts where use and function dominate, the earth is what it is, regardless of who we are, what we do and the functions we give to it. in thinking about the terra kitchen i imagined an object where usefulness and function manifest themselves with the same force of nature: solid, timeless, abstract. i expressed the immense value of the earth with a strict geometrical shape and natural materials - stone and wood. cooking on a stone worktop dated million years makes me feel simultaneously reverent and fortunate. the juxtaposition at 45° between the worktops and fronts, together with the small vertical and horizontal profiles, determine a surface characterized by the presence of regular and cadenced geometries. the tall units are similarly identified by the same module. the new era of terra is molten bronze. a creation between art and technology, able to advance natural elements by human ingenuity and recreating a perfect balance between provocation and simplicity. “ pure strength “ in perfect equilibrium between the force of nature and human strength, an element of weight and of art”. claudio silvestrin
