Description

The mythical facing brick Hera has a red surface with colour shades varying from brown-red with white nuances and blue deposits. All of this in a certain proportion. The facing brick (non-perforated) is sanded on five sides and provided with an oblong sloping groove on one flat side. The structure has a rough appearance with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. These hand-moulded facing bricks are made from Löss from Limburg, extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley and revalued with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel. The baking process is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under slightly reducing atmosphere. The typical retro structure of the brick is obtained by applying a special ageing process.
