Description

The Be Grateful Wall Paper collection takes you on a journey through different landscapes and cultures. The pattern of "Karaba" revisits the desert areas of Kenya with warm colours and metallic details. Karaba is a town in Kenya that is home to the wonders of the Chalbi, a small desert of oases and dunes located in the northern part of the state, near the border with Ethiopia. The Chalbi is a resource of vast proportions: it covers about 100,000 square kilometres, between the slopes of Mount Kulal and the Huri hills towards the Ethiopian side, not far from the semi-arid areas of Lake Turkana. 'Chalbi' is a word of the Gabbra nomadic people meaning 'salt lake' and its oases. Its sudden 'salt lakes' are among the most amazing natural beauties to behold. All this, surrounded by dunes and extinct volcanoes, alternating rugged rocks with sandy bottoms, in an iridescent harmony that is not as lifeless as it might appear. A great expanse of cracked land that has remained unchanged for millennia after the drying up of a huge landlocked sea, of which Turkana is today the only evidence, the largest permanent lake in a desert location and the world' s largest alkaline lake.
