Product overviewAfter collaborating on the Origata bench and desk, Nao Tamura returns to design for Porro with the Ryo bookcase. Ryo is composed of long horizontal shelves supported by adjustable triangular elements made by folding a single sheet of aluminum, creating an open, multifunctional shelving system that reads as a sculptural object beyond pure functionality.
Design and inspirationThe Japanese name 'Ryo' (稜) means edge or ridge: the precise line where two planes meet in tension. The triangle — symbol of energy and stability — conveys both lightness and solidity depending on the viewpoint. Ryo is conceived as a matrix for composing dynamic spaces, with a deconstructivist design language where light shimmers and shadows interact across surfaces.
Construction and finish- Long horizontal shelves supported by adjustable triangular supports
- Triangular elements obtained by folding a single sheet of aluminum
- Almost invisible protective finish that preserves the material's raw texture and natural character
- Open, multifunctional shelving system with sculptural presence
ContextRyo is presented within Porro's 2026 novelties, part of a collection expansion that explores the boundary between industrial object and sculpture and extends the brand's approach to contract and residential projects.
