Product overview
Metal expansion joint profile with a grindable EPDM insert designed to resist heavy loads and protect tile, marble or natural stone edges. The continuous metal corners and trimtec-type side profiles integrate with tile adhesive to distribute loads and reduce mechanical stresses on the flooring surface.

Insert / Performance
The expansion zone insert is EPDM with a hardness selected to balance flexibility and compressive resistance. The grindable insert thickness is 5 mm, allowing sanding to reduce visual impact — recommended for medium to small environments where movement to compensate is limited but load resistance is required.

Suggested backgrounds and reference standard
Suggested field dimensions are based on UNI 11146:2024:

• Indoor environments: typical fields from 5 m x 5 m up to 6 m x 4 m
• Outdoor environments: typical fields from 3 m x 3 m up to 4 m x 2.5 m

Considerations when selecting the product
Consider tile format, joint width, adhesive characteristics and substrate properties. Select the joint height to match the total flooring thickness and amount of adhesive used. The profile must not protrude above the finished flooring surface; recommended tolerance is approximately 0.5–1 mm below the finished surface.

Installation warnings
If a splitting (control) joint exists in the screed, align the expansion profile exactly over it. Apply tile adhesive in the joint area and on the profile wings using appropriate tools. Press the profile wings into the adhesive and lay tiles so the profile remains slightly below the finished surface (about 0.5–1 mm). Fill the gap between tile and profile with grout.

How to install COFLEX CTR
1) Align the profile with any existing splitting joint in the screed.
2) Apply tile adhesive in the joint area and onto the wings of the profile.
3) Press the profile wings into the adhesive and lay tiles ensuring the profile sits slightly below the finished surface (approx. 0.5–1 mm).
4) Fill the gap between tile and profile with grout.

Applications
Recommended for tiled floors in areas with medium to high loads and traffic where edge protection of tiles, marble or stone is required and where a 5 mm sandable insert is desired to minimize visual impact.
