In both types of sound propagation (air-borne and structural transmission) it is indispensable to adapt adequate structural connection techniques between buildings having different acoustic characteristics. Besides the acoustic properties of the single building components – walls and floors - the meeting points of same considerably affect the sound quality of the entire building. Sound does not propagate only directly through an element, but it also seeks a lateral transmission path called flanking.
