The product advantages are numerous.
The term “gesso” comes from a Latin word derived from the Greek “gypsos”, meaning gypsum or plaster.
In the past, gesso for painting was traditionally composed of the mineral calcium sulfate. It is a natural chalk-based product.
Traditionally, this coating was used to prepare the surface before painting. Gesso makes the surfaces to be painted smoother and more adherent, while reducing paint absorption by the substrate.
Today, gesso offers a wide range of textures. Thus, our Opera range, coated with Gesso allows you to take advantage of noble, quality products (Bois Massif), with a silky touch and enabling a perfect painted finish in a single coat without gouging.
