The signage for the Novaciéries in Saint-Chamond (Saint-Étienne Métropole) was designed by the CAPP&CO agency founded by two designers, Alex Chinon and Philippe Portheault. They chose studio So Far So Good for the graphic design, while TF was selected to make and install the panels at the site, based on its technical expertise, its experience in signage and its integration of design. Working from drawings, and keeping in regular contact with the various agencies involved in the project, TF made the prototypes and found technical solutions regarding both the manufacturing of the panels and the printing. There are more constraints than might be expected when making public signage: protection (choice of fasteners), resistance to vandalism, and security (removing protruding corners). TF was also careful to respect the design, even when this raised additional technical constraints: the choice of components (screws that resemble rivets for the industrial context), a “car body” finish, two-tone paint and serigraphy, a neat finish with no weld marks, a mirror-polished finish on certain pieces, respect for the visual lightness, etc. The result exceeded expectations and met with complete satisfaction from the sponsors and their customers..
