Overview
The S 243 H is the bar-stool variant in the S 243 programme: a stackable four-leg bar stool with a tubular steel frame and a moulded plywood seat and backrest. Designer Frank Rettenbacher reduced materials to essential elements to achieve a lightweight, airy appearance. The rear legs have a 25 mm diameter and the front legs 18 mm; the front legs run as a continuous visible line from the front to their connection with the rear legs. The proportions of the moulded plywood seat and backrest are balanced with the tubular frame. The steel frame is available chrome-plated or powder-coated in multiple colours.

Designer
Frank Rettenbacher, 2024. Born in Bregenz (1979) and based in Amsterdam. After studying Industrial Design and holding positions at Audi Design and Philips Design, he founded his own studio in 2013. His work has been awarded multiple honours including the iF Gold Award, Red Dot Best of the Best and the Dutch Design Award.
