Smoke curtain MEGAFIRE EI 120

DESCRIPTION
Megafire EI 120 is an automatic fire curtain designed for building compartmentation and smoke control, providing fire resistance classifications EI1 60 and EI2 120. The curtain is made from a five‑layer fibreglass sandwich with intumescent coatings and reinforced steel wire, wound on an 89 mm diameter steel roller. The headbox and side guides are manufactured in galvanized steel for durability and integration into architectural openings.

OPERATION
The system is controlled by a CBM control panel (nominal input 115 V or 220 V; output 230 V) and driven by a 230 V tubular motor equipped with a Special Gravity Fail‑Safe System. Activation can occur from SHEV, fire alarm contacts, internal fire/smoke detectors or manual emergency buttons. On alarm the CBM deploys the curtain at a controlled constant descent speed; in the event of total mains failure the gravity fail‑safe and battery backup ensure safe operation. False alarms can be reset from the main Fire Management System, after which the curtain returns to standby. UPS is included in all control panels and a battery backup keeps the curtain retracted if required.

FABRIC
The curtain assembly consists of five layers:

• Two outer layers: fibreglass cloth + intumescent coating ("TRIAMF-1").
• Two intermediate layers: fibreglass cloth + intumescent reinforced with steel wire ("TRIA MF-3").
• Central layer: silica with aluminium on both sides ("TRIA MF-2").
