Description

Victorian architecture refers collectively to several architectural styles employed predominantly during the middle and late 19th century. The name ‘Victorian’ refers to the reign of Queen Victoria, during which period, the styles known as Victorian were used in construction. Victorian style often included interpretations and eclectic revival of historic styles mixed with the introduction of Middle Eastern and Asian influences. Victorian conservatories do allow for a degree of creativity when designing and Vale has designed conservatories with simple detailing and ones with elaborate features. Our designs are mainly driven by the host building in mirroring detail and style. Some examples of the types of detailing Vale have incorporated into a Victorian conservatory are: Gothic headed panels, corbelled or stop chamfer columns, decorative bargeboards, quatrefoil detailing, dentil mouldings etc. Vale differ from most conservatory manufacturers by having an in-house pattern making department, in order to provide the customer with a wide choice of detailing for the interior and exterior of their project. Metal decoration may be in the form of support castings or columns for structural purposes, or finials and cresting for decoration and these are foundry cast in either aluminium or iron to traditional methods.
