The Old Italian word “Banca” means “bench”. In old times, benches were used as desks where soldiers were paid and transactions took place. This new Vaselli stone seat retrieves the value of an object around which so many human relations and businesses were created. The seat is obtained from two pieces of the same block of stone that are emptied and assembled in such a way as to recreate the natural veneer and reduce weight. The shape of the upper part is obtained by applying noise to the 3D rendering, which is then used by the 5-axes machine as a reference to rough-hew the pieces. The monolith is hand-finished by smoothing the sides and polishing the upper part.
