A NEW CHAIR WITH 70 YEARS OF HISTORY

The iconic Portuguese chair was born in Lisbon, in the 50’s. Against all odds, this design, ended up having an unique cultural expression in the industrial and urban furniture industry, in Portugal.

It found its place directly on the cafes, terraces and public parks across the country, becoming known for its unique design, that balances comfort and aesthetics and for its robustness and weather-friendly stacking properties.

It has inspired a whole generation of young architects, designers and artists and, to this day, it is still considered the absolute terrace Queen, a part of our national identity.

The BICAchair brand is rebranded in 2020 with an innovative concept and with quality standards never achieved before. Focused on its design history and ensuring its legacy with an international ambition.

BICAchair brand’s philosophy is based upon four fundamental pillars: design as a storyteller, environmental and social responsibility as a global duty, the customer being our first concern and quality as an indisputable added value.

We aim to promote and provoke moments worth sharing, through design. We believe design is an important part of everyone’s life, for good design can make you feel comfortable and relaxed, leading to perhaps a nice conversation and a nice moment.

We take in account all our choices and as a society we search for responsible, sustainable products and brands that set an example from minimizing their carbon and ecological footprint to giving back to the community. This is why we take in account all our choices, regarding the impact they have on the environment and the community we live in, always seeking to find the best sustainable solutions.

Our long experience, supported by new technologies, makes us believe that a good design is one that is made with materials and techniques, that allow the product to pass through several generations.

We believe that objects with a longer lifespan and well thought design, have a more positive environmental impact. Therefore, we seek to work with small local producers and have a critical and demanding voice in the search for sustainable solutions and greater respect for the environment.
