Who we are

more. Designed in Hamburg. Manufactured in Germany.

Whether beautiful, high quality or practical, furniture is only truly valuable once it becomes a completely natural part of our everyday lives. That is what we aim for at more.

The team led by Bernhard Müller has been designing quality chairs, tables, beds and storage furniture for almost 30 years now. “Our understanding of architecture in space has always guided us when coming up with new ideas. Our furniture is meant to allow freedom for individual design instead of dominating spaces,” says the architect and founder of more.
Objects from more are conceptualized and manufactured to accompany their owners for years and even decades; inspired by clear ideas, surprising functionality and the timeless forms of modern classics.

“We are convinced that substantial design must make no compromises when it comes to the quality of materials,” explains Müller. more therefore uses high-quality, natural and, whenever possible, organically produced materials – even for invisible components such as upholstery or bracing.

The slow-growing, solid woods we use are sourced from sustainable forestry in Germany, France and the USA. We allow the wood regular rest periods at a controlled humidity between each work step, resulting in particularly durable surfaces.

The company purchases materials from Sweden, Italy and England, including wool fabrics from New Zealand pure new wool with China grass for a particularly pleasant feel.
Leather is sourced from English, German and Austrian production. It is tanned in Italy and dyed with soluble colors to preserve the natural character. Some leathers are even 100% ecologically tanned using olive leaves.

Furniture from more has always been manufactured exclusively in Germany, in three factories located in the north and in the Lower Rhine region.

Our values

For almost 30 years now, our company has based its work on one simple principle.

Sustainability.

We find it in clear lines, with their timeless appeal which will outlive any trend. We find it too in strong structures which we can rely on to last a lifetime. We find it in warm wood, fabrics, leather, natural materials from sustainable sources, and responsible production methods. We find it also in the passion and excellence of experienced carpenters, tanners and upholsterers, who, in their workshops, produce each piece individually to order.

How can we spare even more resources? What can we do without? Where can we replace conventional with eco-friendly materials? How can we organise production, packaging and transport in ways which are better for the environment?

Sustainability for us is a way forward, where each small step is valuable.

We are driven, in this process, by our personal concept of aesthetics. From day one, we have built our furniture as if it were for our own homes. Furniture with attitude. In our view, substantial design aims not only to achieve formal perfection, but also to find answers to the question of ‘how do we want to live?’
