About Us
WOODOO: Less impact, more innovation.
In the face of the climate emergency and the limitations of traditional materials, Woodoo is rethinking wood for the 21st century. Thanks to a patented bioengineering technology, we replace lignin with sustainable polymers, creating an ultra-resistant, lighter-than-steel, and low-carbon material.
Our solutions, used in construction, offer an eco-friendly alternative to concrete and metals, while ensuring performance and durability.
In addition to being recyclable, Stack fits into a circular economy model. The lignin extracted from the wood is of interest to the fine chemical industry, which uses it as a substitute for petroleum-based products to synthesize benzene, phenols, or vanillin.
To prevent deforestation and overexploitation, our process makes it possible to use wood species that are rarely used in construction or furniture, such as poplar — often relegated to firewood today.
A French architect and biochemist, Timothée Boitouzet, CEO of WOODOO, graduated from the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris and pursued his research in material biochemistry at Harvard and MIT, with a clear ambition: to reinvent materials to build a more sustainable future.
Thanks to his expertise, he developed a patented technology that strengthens wood by replacing its lignin with sustainable polymers, resulting in a material capable of replacing polluting concrete, plastics, and metals.
WOODOO and its founder, Timothée Boitouzet, have been widely recognized for their contribution to innovation and sustainability. The startup has received numerous prestigious awards, including distinctions from MIT Technology Review, the World Economic Forum, as well as several major national and European innovation prizes. It has also been acknowledged by organizations such as Bpifrance, the European Commission, and the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, confirming its role as a leader in the transformation of sustainable materials.
Timothée Boitouzet has been hailed as one of the most promising young innovators by MIT and has been a finalist for several prestigious awards in architecture and technological innovation. His work is internationally recognized, particularly in the fields of circular economy and low-carbon material development.
These numerous awards highlight the relevance and impact of the technology developed by WOODOO, positioning the company as a key player in the sustainable materials revolution.
