Functionality and new technologies
Dwall rolled aluminium sections are made using an innovative continuous liquid coating process by means of roller coating heads. The result is a product with an excellent performance level, easy to work, lightweight and very easy to assemble.
Liquid-painted rolled aluminium sections also have the considerable advantage of combining the quality of a painted product with bright,
long-lasting colours, with a relatively economical finished product.
As with all Otefal group products, Dwall is also available with a virtually unlimited range of alloys, resins, paints and colours (RAL colours and custom finishes).
Dwall is extremely versatile and practical and, consequently, can be used in countless fields: from building to transport, from poster design to household appliances.

DFALZ
The newest product of Otefal Group is Dfalz, aluminium rolled sheet with continuous liquid painting for coverings and roofing.
The paints used are Pvdf coatings with IR-reflecting pigments: the IR radiation is partly reflected and partly absorbed. While white and near white pigments are naturally IR-reflecting, darker pigments tend to have a high rate of IR absorption. The difference in surface temperature (and panel temperature) between a coating using standard pigments and on using special IR-reflecting pigments can range from app. 5°C for light colours to more than 10°C for dark colours (measured on north-facing roofing panels at an exterior temperature of 30°C).
Dfalz precoated roofing panels will have:
- lower operating costs, due to less maintenance and airconditioning
- lower installation costs, due to less insulation requirement
- longer service life
than panels using standard coating products, including PVDF coatings with standard pigmentation.
The UV radiation is destructive to many substances, including coatings, and it follows that in order to maximise the life of a coating, it should be as transparent as possible to UV light. PVDF coatings have this characteristic.
In densely constructed areas, Dfalz IR-reflecting panels will also contribute less to ozone creation, thus improving the air quality for the occupants and neighbours.

Aluminium
Kalzip standing seam and profiled cladding sheets are available as standard in a stucco embossed finish which is achieved by processing the natural mill finish material through embossing rollers. This provides a surface which diffuses light reducing reflectivity and glare.
As aluminium is both stable and durable, it provides excellent service as a roofing or cladding material without the need for any protective coating.
After prolonged exposure to the elements, the original highly reflective surface of aluminium will dull down to a uniform patina finish and changes in appearance will be consistent along any elevation.
The weathering effect is particularly well illustrated (above) on the City of Manchester Stadium, England. In the space of just 12 months the original roof had dulled down. Once the new North Stand was installed it too started to lose much of its high reflectivity and toned down to match the original Kalzip material.

ALUCORE® is an aluminium composite panel consisting of two cover sheets and a honeycomb core of aluminium.
Following in the footsteps of the world-wide established ALUCORE® trademark, ALUCORE® is also a composite material for a variety of applications in transport, architecture or industrial production, showing excellent product properties such as extraordinary flatness, large variety of colours and high formability.
The aluminium honeycomb core gives the composite panel a high rigidity and an extremely low weight. ALUCORE® therefore provides the decisive advantage where very high demands are made on the material for applications such as façade cladding or roofing, e.g. if exposed to extremely high wind load and for large self-supporting roofs.
ALUCORE® is the first lightweight panel that you, too, will absolutely insist as being: a bond for life.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The aluminium honeycomb core endows the composite panel with an exceptionally high bending strength at an extremely low weight. In contrast to traditional honeycomb composites with brittle-hard bonding systems, the ALUCORE bonding system is tough and resilient yet features a high degree of elasticity. The advantages resulting there from are improved peel strength, higher damage tolerances and additional processing options, to name just a few.
With all the advantages there are to an optimal system solution.
ALUCORE is produced in a continuous manufacturing process, in which the core and the cover sheets already stove-lacquered are bonded. The result: This high-performance honeycomb composite can be produced in large contract quantities at short notice - making it an attractive proposition in terms of value for money. With its low weight and high weather resistance, ALUCORE ideally lends itself to indoor and outdoor applications. Numerous business sectors, such as architecture, industry, transport and display utilize the advantages of this highly versatile, fully recyclable aluminium honeycomb composite panel.

Kalzip structural deck roof system
The Kalzip structural deck roof system provides an economical solution for long span installations and eliminates the need for purlins. For enhanced acoustic absorption, decking sheets can be perforated and can support mass, such as increased insulation or board, which may be introduced for more rigorous acoustic specifications.
Where structural decking is installed there is a reduced requirement for secondary steelwork. The Kalzip structural decking sheet is generally laid transverse to the direction of the Kalzip standing seam roof sheet and spans between the main steel rafters. Typical rafter centres would be approximately 3 to 8 metres.
The Kalzip clips are installed in a diagonal layout so that all external roof loads can be evenly distributed to the structural decking sheet. The frequency of clips may be increased at theperimeter of the building where higher wind loads occur.
The gauge and profile of the Kalzip structural decking sheet is therefore determined by the rafter centres, all external roof loads, internal wind loads, service loads (e.g. lighting) and the dead weight of the construction components.

Kalzip liner roof system
Kalzip liner roof systems are predominantly used for new build construction, although they can also be used for refurbishment when required.
The Kalzip liner roof system is ideal where speed of installation on a project is of utmost importance. A non-fragile walkable Kalzip liner sheet can be quickly installed to provide weather cover to allow other trades to work below. The remainder of the roofing components can then be installed without affecting the critical path of the construction programme.
The Kalzip liner roof system has the outer Kalzip standing seam roof sheet and the internal Kalzip liner trapezoidal profiled liner sheet laid in the same direction across roof purlins acting as the primary support.
The Kalzip standing seam roof sheets are supported directly off the roof purlins via the support clips/halters (aluminium clips or E clips) so therefore act independently of the Kalzip liner sheet. When lightweight quilt type insulation is used, the external loads (wind suction, snow, access etc.) are transferred direct to the support purlins and not the liner sheet.
The profile and thickness of the Kalzip standing seam roof sheet will be determined by the external loads and the purlin centres whilst the liner sheet will be determined by its dimensional compatibility with the roof sheet and the internal wind pressure, purlin centres, dead weight of the construction components, its walkability requirement and its non-fragility rating.
