Description

The “Frailero” armchair is an exclusive piece of furniture exhibited in the Barcelona Design Museum and Madrid National Decorative Arts Museum. ArtesMoble manufactures the original signed and serialized piece under the license of the Designer Mr. Jose Luis Pérez Ortega. A design icon of the 80's in Spain. The Armchair features a linear design that plays with elegant curved shapes. Originally designed for Artespaña, which was a state company, whose purpose was to promote Spanish design. According to the designer Mr. José Luis Pérez Ortega, says: "I took as a reference point the pieces of furniture exhibited at the Greco House in Toledo, without the leather trimmings and the geometric carvings, so I designed a similar volumetry chair more defined by a metal structure without ornaments, leaving the arms in exposed wood as a reference to the past "As a Relic". The Frailero Armchair is made up of three parts: The external metal structure in stainless steel, the backrest and the seat upholstered in leather, and the armrests that feature an elegant play of turned curved shapes that finish off the whole piece of great formal simplicity, with a linear and austere design. It is also here that the object acquires its most ambiguous and ironic meaning, as these pieces formally reproduce the delicate volute of a violin, attributing a new function which, however, is not so far removed from its essentially tactile relationship with the user.
