The Quattrogambe chair was conceived by Jasper Morrison, one of the most representative figures on the contemporary international design scene. Born in London in 1959, he graduated from the Royal College of Art and opened his first studio. In 2009 he opened the Jasper Morrison Limited shop in London and in 2011 launched his shop-on-line. Today, Jasper Morrison Ltd consists of three design studios, the main office in London and two branch offices, one in Paris (opened in 2002) and one in Tokyo (opened in 2007). Elegant minimal design is the leitmotif of his product range. Objects that impress with their refined subtle beauty, that do not aim to attract attention but rediscover the purest design of forms and materials. Morrison is passionate about research into the history of the evolution of design, hence the Quattrogambe chair combines practicality and comfort, creating a chair with a timeless style. “It isn’t the concrete, nor the wood, neither the stone, not the steel, nor the glass the most resistant material. The most resistant element in architecture is art.’’ (Gio’ Ponti) This is a strong and silently altruistic message because the beauty around us belongs to everyone and is for everyone, it doesn’t bear the signature of a design. For Jasper, learning to see is a gradual process, our eyes have to be re-educated because they are bombarded by too many messages. Since 2015 Quattrogambe has been part of the Icon Chairs collection, one of the timeless icons of Italian design.
