Overview
XPL is a minimalist kitchen island system that reduces the composition to a pure volumetric element. The island reads as a compact domestic architecture: continuous surfaces, softened corners and a signature structural detail that defines the project.

Designer & Concept
Designer: Piero Lissoni. XPL evolves from the historic Xila system (Luigi Massoni, 1972) and is founded on a structural approach that prioritises reduction of form, controlled proportions and refined construction detail.

Design details
The signature detail is a 90 mm chamfered side panel with a 32 mm outer radius, creating a soft curved edge. The range is offered in a plinth-mounted (floor-panel) monolithic version and a suspended version at plinth height to emphasise volumetric lightness. The top slightly overhangs the side panels and is finished with a 34 mm radius on all four corners.

Configurations & Top options

• Suspended units can integrate a rear snack counter structurally connected to the system (span tested to 3.60 m).
• Available top finishes and thicknesses: 4 mm solid stainless steel; 12 mm MDi composite; 20 mm marble.

Materials & Construction

• Carcass: 19 mm low-formaldehyde particleboard (Class E1, CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI), melamine-faced with high-weight paper treated with melamine resin; ABS front and back edges, same colour.
• Doors/Fronts: square edged door, thickness 23 mm.
• Plinth: extruded aluminium profile, height 100 mm; multiple finish options.
• Handles: handle rail options (HANDLE RAIL / HANDLE RAIL style).

Finishes & Materials

• Wood veneers and wood surfaces (examples: thermo-treated larch, elm, grey-graphite oak, natural oak, Canaletto walnut, smoked oak, Ecowood variants).
• Lacquers and painted finishes (EASYLAK+, ECOLAK, SILCOLAK) and polyester high-gloss.
• Lasermat / FENIX NTM® technical surfaces, CORIAN® solid surface, MDi and composite options, DEKTON®/stone, marbles and granites.
• Metal-effect lacquers and stainless steel finishes (matt-satin / pre-satin).
