General
The SHADOW LIGHTS lighting system by Hess is an outdoor lighting solution that sculpts urban spaces through controlled shadow and light. It provides unobtrusive daytime aesthetics and configurable visual effects at night, enabling designers to create atmospheres that encourage people to linger.

Principles and effects
SHADOW LIGHTS combines harmonious basic illumination with targeted shadow effects using concealed light sources that minimise stray light and support Dark Sky objectives. The system is modular and adaptable to the spatial and visual requirements of public spaces.

Stages / Configurations

• STAGE 1: Fixed preconfigured column available in four heights. Control per insert; options without dimming or with dimming via DALI, StepDIM or AstroDIM. Typical configurations: paths (heights 5000/6000/7000/8000 mm) with two inserts, streets (6000/7000/8000 mm) with three inserts, boulevards (7000/8000 mm) with four inserts, squares (8000 mm) with five inserts.
• STAGE 2: Freely configurable column with three insert types: PREMIUM SPOT, PREMIUM WASH and PREMIUM WIDE. Inserts are mounted in modules that rotate 360°. Spotlights adjustable vertically +40° / -45° and horizontally +30° / -30°. Control per insert. Base element can accommodate additional inserts for CCTV, speakers and GOBO. Heights from 4200 mm to 8200 mm.
• STAGE 3: Freely configurable column with the same insert types as STAGE 2. Modules rotate 360°. Individual spotlight control possible (DMX / DALI); vertical adjustment +40° / -45°, horizontal +30° / -30°. Future options include Tunable White and RGBW. Additional inserts (CCTV, speakers, GOBO) available. Heights from 4200 mm to 8200 mm.

Options and accessories
Available accessories include BaseShield and SkyShield to limit glare. Note: SkyShield cannot be combined with the 55° optics for technical reasons.

Applications
Designed for public outdoor spaces (paths, streets, boulevards, squares) where a combination of base lighting and controlled shadow effects is required to shape atmosphere and visual comfort.
