OverviewPilkington Pyrodur® is a clear laminated fire-resistant and safety glass (from 9 mm) designed to provide integrity fire protection and to limit radiant heat transfer. It uses clear intumescent interlayers and a reduced number/thickness of interlayers compared with Pilkington Pyrostop® to deliver lightweight fire glazing solutions.
Features & Benefits- Demonstrated integrity performance up to 60 minutes when installed in a suitable tested glazing system, restricting spread of flames, smoke and hot gases.
- Uses the same generic technology as Pilkington Pyrostop® with fewer and thinner interlayers.
- Clear intumescent interlayers expand on exposure to heat to form a rigid, opaque barrier to flames, aiding evacuation visibility control.
- Reduces transmission of conductive and radiant heat from a fire.
- Fully clear, unobstructed vision for façade and interior applications.
- Provides effective acoustic attenuation.
- Can deliver impact safety performance depending on thickness and configuration.
- Compatible with other functional glasses to broaden application possibilities.
- Available in different thicknesses and compositions for internal or external use.
- Offered in monolithic form or as insulating glass units (single and double glazed).
ApplicationsSuitable for internal and external situations requiring fire-resistant glazing that provides integrity and prescribed insulation levels up to class EW 60. Pilkington Pyrodur® is available as single or double glazed units for use in steel, aluminium, softwood and hardwood frames.
It can be combined with functional glasses to produce a wide range of products for doors, screens, partitions and façades where lightweight profiles and ease of glazing are priorities.
Also suitable for insulating glass units in facades and roof glazing with specific compositions for inclined applications.
Product CombinationsPilkington Pyrodur® can be specified with additional functions: thermal insulation for energy performance, solar control, enhanced acoustic insulation, self-cleaning coatings, integrated safety/alarm features and customised aesthetic options. It may be combined with other functional glasses to meet project requirements.
