L’Arlesien bench revives the grace of a retro elegance which guarantees a perfect integration in an enhanced urban decor. This model was recently installed in the alley bordering the brand new Luma Arles Foundation by architect Frank Gehry and its adjoining landscaped park created by Bas Smets. Light yet robust, this bench revisits the marriage of wood and metal with elegance and finesse. It rests on a black powder-coated steel tubular structure covered with 3 oak slats that stands out for its simplicity and lightness. Its warm and sober design inspired by the world of sewing, punctuates the wooden slats of a line of 3 buttons, with screws embedded in the slat. The classic elegance of the 3 buttons is no longer curved, but flush with the wood, to perfect the line of the seat and back, with discretion. The bench was created by landscape architect Bas Smets in collaboration with art director Eliane Le Roux. TF URBAN provided the conception, feasibility study and manufacturing. Because we think about the life of the furniture in situ and the people who maintain it on a daily basis, we designed it to be completely dismountable: each part can be replaced and recycled at the end of its life cycle. This model weights less than 25 kg, which makes it easy to install by technical services.
