Volakas is a famous marble extracted in the North of Greece, in the town of the same name where its many quarries are located.
The blocks of this marble are medium and big sized, and they are produced in good quantity. Volakas is a marble characterised by the light background, grey veined, a bit looking like other marbles from Carrara. There are different typologies of Volakas, depending on the mountain of extraction and the tone of the background. The two main typologies are: Classic and Cloudy. The slabs of Volakas usually need to be resined in order to fix some natural defects or micro-cracks. Ziche resins all the slabs of Volakas in the modern factory in Brescia (IT), with a triple vacuum epoxy resining. This high quality process allows to have slabs and tiles with a perfect structure, free of defects or porosity and without affecting the beautiful natural color of this marble. This marble is currently used for floorings, claddings, stairs, tiles, coverings, with a wide range of finishings, and especially for indoor applications.
Finishings: polished, honed, brushed, bush-hammered, sandblasted,
