The majority of ZIEHL-ABEGG external rotor motors are equipped with thermostatic switches "TB" as standard. Commercially available motor protection switches or bimetallic tripping devices in the motor supply line operate on the basis of current or temperature and thus offer only incomplete protection. Fans can be reliably protected with ZIEHL-ABEGG motor protection devices. This is particularly the case, for example, if they are speed-controlled via the voltage or operated with a high switching frequency. In addition, they prevent automatic restarting after cooling in the event of a fault. It is also possible to protect several motors via one protective device.
Most ZIEHL-ABEGG external rotor motors are fitted with thermostatic switches (TB). Explosion-proof external rotor motors have a temperature sensor (TP). A temperature sensor (TP) / PTC thermistor is also integrated in IEC standard motors.
To protect and monitor these motors, ZIEHL-ABEGG supplies suitable products to analyse signals from the thermostatic switch and the temperature sensor.
3~ motor protection devices to monitor the integrated thermostatic switch (TB) provide full thermal motor protection as well as the option of easily distributing the flow to the fans. Multiple fans can be connected to a 3~ motor protection device, with an integrated overcurrent trigger providing cut-out protection (safety feature).
1~ motor protection devices monitor one connected motor each (TP thermostatic switch). The monitoring device for the temperature sensor (TP) also enables the protection of explosion-proof motors (PTC thermistor release unit).
