The façade is the architect’s answer to the investor’s wish for authentic architecture with a modern flair. The external cover of the object clearly shows the division to public and semi-public: dense wooden raster against surrounding objects, complete openness into the interior atrium of the green oasis of the intimate garden.
The larch façade of the upper floor has in the most appropriate manner fulfilled the conceptual starting points of the object, which in the composition of the "homestead” by the tavern represents the “farming object” in wood on a stone respectively concrete semi-dug-in base.

In the beautiful area near lake Como are two atrium objects, which cover an area of 600 m2 (the kindergarten and the accompanying service object). The buildings are distinguished by a wooden design, which is exposed in the construction, external façade and internal wall linings. The final solution was nominated for the best architectural project in 2007 at the Leafawards competition.
|
|
|
The basic idea of the design of the object was to stress the relation between the cube and rectangle - a distinctive relation between sharp and cold. Wood, the material selected for the façade cover, has with its structure, colour and physical features softened the rigidity of correct forms and the coldness of other materials used in the project.

BOARD & BATTEN
Board-and-batten is a vertical design created using wide clear or knotty cedar boards spaced apart with narrower boards (battens) covering the joins. There are no set board or batten widths - various combinations are used to create different looks suitable for large or small scale applications.

The new extension of the conference hall with service spaces is located in the interior atrium, the centre of a set of existing buildings of one of the largest medical charity foundations in the world, located in the natural park Wetlands, which spreads over an area of 6.1 hectares.
Wood, as the basic element, used for the structural elements, larch wood facade, roof and the interior, represents the basic concept of operation of the corporation, i.e. maintenance of a natural ecosystem. In the building’s exterior envelope, it forms a vertical rhythm and contrasts the glazed surface of the existing composition. The raster concludes with the end of the building and runs on as a green roof. The building is naturally lit through specially designed windows of rectangular forms and roof domes, offering an additional light source.

Wood is the primary link with nature. When it surrounds us, it relaxes us and stimulates vital functions with its vivacity. The façade cover of the object stresses the purpose of interior rooms, where the small changes of every user constantly take place: the object is meant for relaxation, recreation, wellness program.

This countryside family house features a modern interpretation of the façade. The façade is a combination of a classical plaster material and wood. The cube like house is unique because of its wooden elements that have a double purpose: they define the edges of the volume and offer a line between the exterior and interior in the direction of the garden.

The object at the foothills of Šmarna gora returns the nature its primary feature, which we miss so much in the construction of single-family houses. The façade cover is composed of wooden frames in the syncopated rhythm: wide and narrow, opening up on the southern lamella and offering a view to the construction of the object thus emphasizing the third dimension of volume.
