Portsmouth Borough Council engaged Factory Furniture to design and make some informal seating for Guildhall square in Portsmouth. The seating would wind through the square and around its collection of mature trees. The final bench and seat designs were based on the Tree seat but incorporated the sleek base design of the Sinu bench. The curved seat slats and backrests were manufactured from FSC® Cumaru hardwood. The timber slats were mounted on a protective stainless steel frame for durability and rigidity. Where backrests were incorporated, armrests were also included for added comfort. The seating was designed to be easily removable to allow for event access in Guildhall Square and for added flexibility.
