A hand-moulded facing brick, ensuring a fresh tint
Old-Terduinen is a hand-moulded facing brick from the Classico range of Nelissen Brickworks. This brick is made from Löss from Limburg. The facing bricks are extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley. Then they are revalued with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel. The non-perforated facing brick is sanded on five sides. Old-Terduinen is provided with an oblong sloping groove on one flat side (frog, group 1).
The structure of Old-Terduinen is characterized by a rough appearance with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under a slightly reducing atmosphere. The surface of the brick is yellowish. The different types of sand provide chalky deposits that let the yellow colour slightly fade. The colours vary from yellow to pale pink with white, beige and grey nuances. The way we let the shaping happen in the specially designed hand-moulding equipment ensures an extremely close resemblance with real recuperated bricks, combined with the same physical characteristics as the other bricks from the extensive range.
