A facing brick with a timeless beauty
Belle Epoque de Marche is a hand-moulded facing brick from the Classico range of Nelissen Brickworks. The surface of the brick is orange. The colour shades vary from orange to wine red combined with marl-coloured shades. The typical outdated view is obtained by treating the wet unbaked bricks with various admixtures. The way Nelissen Brickworks lets the shaping happen in the specially designed hand-moulding equipment ensures an extremely close resemblance with real recuperated bricks, combined with the same physical characteristics as the other bricks from the extensive range.
This brick is made from Löss from Limburg. The stone is extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley. Then it gets upgraded with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel. The non-perforated hand-moulded facing brick is sanded on five sides. The Belle Epoque de Marche is provided with an oblong sloping groove on one flat side (frog, group 1). The structure of the Belle Epoque de Marche is rough with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process of this brick is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under a slightly reducing atmosphere.
